Blanchard Combined the future is great

Our History

The Blanchard Combined School was built under the Hess Hurricane Allen Rehabilitation Program. The school opened its doors on 14th September, 1987 with a total of 394 students transferred from the Desruisseaux Combined School and 42 new students.

The formal opening ceremony of the school took place on November 22nd of this same year. The address was done by the Late Right Honourable Prime Minister, Sir John Compton who was the parliamentary representative at that time.

 

Mr. Thomas Daniel (Sr) was the school’s first Principal. He retired in August 1998. For three years, the school remained without a principal. During this period, Mr. Ellsworth Prescott acted for one year from September 1998 to August 1999. Mr. Thomas Daniel (Jr) also acted from September 1999 to August 2001. Mr. Ellsworth Prescott was then appointed as the principal in September 2001.

 

In January 2003, the school became part of the Caribbean Center of Excellence in Teacher Training (CCETT). The school became one of the most prominent ones in the programme and had been visited by educators across the Caribbean. In 2006, Miss Elvira Prescott Vie (2) was selected as a Teacher of Excellence and obtained this title again in 2009. In 2007 the principal was awarded by CCETT as Principal of Excellence.

 

Blanchard Combined was the site for the filming of the local movie, ‘Troubled Waters’.

 

In 2014, the school was the Overall Winner in the National Science Fair.

In 2015, the school performed above the national mean for the first time in the Common Entrance Examinations. We continue to strive for excellence as we Learn Well in order to become Helpful to our nation and world by extension.
